A Constant Reminder of Your Adoration

It is not commonplace for people to have a tattoo with their name on it to memorialise their love for a boyfriend or girlfriend, wife or husband.

When considering such a tattoo, keep in mind that, while love can fade and relationships can end at any time, removing a tattoo takes time and often a lot of expensive surgery – and even then, traces can be left, causing a variety of problems and possibly forcing you to reconsider your entire attitude towards tattoos.

Ink may be used in a variety of ways to express your love for someone. Getting the name of your love tattooed somewhere conspicuous is by far the most obvious and, in fact, the most prevalent.

David Beckham, for example, has his wife Victoria’s name tattooed on his elbow – mis-spelled and in Hindi, incidentally – and it’s possible that this is one of the reasons they’ve stayed together for so long despite adversity.

During his romance with actress Winona Ryder, Johnny Depp got the inscription “Winona Forever” tattooed on his right bicep, but he was not so lucky.

After their romance ended, Depp, a wine connoisseur, had it changed to “Wino Forever” to appease his current wife Vanessa Paradis.

Then there’s Amy Winehouse, the problematic British singer who has a tattoo of a button pocket with the legend “Blake’s” above it on her chest, symbolising that her heart belongs to Blake Civil-Fielder, whom she married in May 2007. Their divorce was finalised in July 2014, and she has yet to make any changes.
